Queens College Choral Society to Audition New Members Throughout August for Its 2025–2026 Season

—Concerts to feature works by Ellington, Fauré, and Los Angeles-based composer David Stern; Stern’s work, based on Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, will be premiered by the Choral Society—

 

Flushing, NY, August, 5 2025 – The Queens College Choral Society will hold auditions for new members to perform during the group’s 2025-2026 season. Applicants may schedule an audition via Zoom or in person on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, 20, from 6 to 9 pm; Monday, August 25, from 4 to 7 pm; and Tuesday, August 26, 4 to 6 pm at this link: https://calendly.com/qcchoirs/qccsauditions?month=2025-08 .

Among the performances taking place during the upcoming season are Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts, in collaboration with the college’s Aaron Copland School of Music’s Jazz Program; Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem; and the world premiere of a work by Los Angeles-based composer David Stern that is based on Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass.  

The Queens College Choral Society welcomes anyone with prior singing experience to audition, including QC faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and members of the surrounding community. High school students are also invited to participate through the society’s high school outreach program. Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesdays at the college from 7:30 to 9:45 pm and will begin on August 27, 2025. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate basic singing skills—no preparation is necessary.
