Queens College Choral Society to Audition New Members for the Remainder of Its 85th Anniversary Season

—Concerts to feature a work by Fauré and the premiere of a cantata that Los Angeles-based composer David Stern based on Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass

Flushing, NY, January 13, 2026 – The Queens College Choral Society will hold auditions for new members to perform for the remainder of the group’s 85th anniversary season, which runs through spring 2026. The upcoming spring concert will feature Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem and the world premiere of a work by Los Angeles-based composer David Stern that is based on Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass.

Auditions consist of basic singing skills; no preparation is necessary. Applicants may schedule an audition via Zoom or in person in Room 350 of the Queens College Music Building on Wednesday, January 21, from 6 to 9 pm; Monday, January 26, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm; and Tuesday, January 27, from 3 to 5 pm at this link: https://calendly.com/qcchoirs/qccsauditions.

Weekly rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at the college from 7:30 to 9:45 pm, beginning Wednesday, January 28.

The Queens College Choral Society welcomes anyone with prior singing experience to audition, including QC faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and members of the surrounding community. High school students are also invited to participate through the society’s high school outreach program.
