The Office of External & Governmental Relations serves as the primary university representative to elected officials. It acts as an advocate for the university on the federal, state, and local levels of government and works to address issues and requests elected officials make to the college. This office also serves as a liaison between the college and external community stakeholders–such as civic and faith-based organizations–to develop, support, and sustain relationships and collaborations with constituencies that add value to the mission and strategic goals of Queens College. In addition, this office oversees the college’s professional arts and cultural organizations, including the Louis Armstrong House Museum, the Godwin-Ternbach Museum, the Kupferberg Performing Arts Center, and the Queens College Arts Center, and works closely with arts and cultural academic departments to support their public performances and acquisitions.
As the principal liaison between the university and all elected officials, Government Relations can help you host elected officials on campus. Please notify our office in advance if you would like to invite an elected official to campus so that we can provide assistance, make further arrangements to welcome your guest, and properly promote their visit to our campus and off-campus constituents.
If you have a question about the college’s involvement in the political process in general, please feel free to contact us.

Godwin-Ternbach Museum
The Godwin-Ternbach Museum, a part of the Kupferberg Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, located on the Flushing campus of Queens College, City University of New York, organizes cultural exhibitions and programs of contemporary and historical significance for the diverse audiences of Queens and the metropolitan region—students, faculty and public alike. It is the only comprehensive collection of art and artifacts in the borough, housing nearly 6,000 works that date from ancient to modern times, which represent global cultures from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America. The museum interprets objects on view in the context of the many traditions and histories that give Queens it’s unique vitality and richness; and introduces many individuals to art and artifacts they might not otherwise encounter, often for the first time. Lectures, symposia, gallery talks, workshops, films, concerts, and tours, as well as digital displays, print and online catalogues, and an active website, illuminate the art on view. All exhibitions and programs are free.

Kupferberg Center for the Arts
Kupferberg Center for the Arts (KCA) is the largest multi-disciplinary arts complex in Queens, named “Best place to visit in 2015” by Lonely Planet. With performances by world-class artists in our on-campus venues; regional and local talent in our off-site neighborhood performances; and professionally-produced shows by Queens College’s students and faculty, KCA’s mission is to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable cultural attractions to the Queens College community and the borough’s 2.3 million residents.
Kupferberg Center and its affiliate entities were founded on the principle that all people and all communities should have access to high-quality, affordable, and accessible arts entertainment and education. As such, Kupferberg Center is committed to locate and address any instances of implicit or explicit bias and to help advance social and racial justice by:
- Presenting diverse programs and performances that amplify the voices of artists of all cultural and national backgrounds.
- Develop initiatives led by artists of color and artists who have a successful track-record of working collaboratively with communities of color that actively address issues of social and racial injustice.
- Collaborating with partner arts organizations that share our vision to advance social justice in our borough and city-wide.
We are convinced that a united front to achieve racial equality will lead to much-needed and long-overdue social changes, and we are excited to work with artists, our audiences and partners, and the Queens College community to help foster this transformation.
