The Speech-Language-Hearing Center
The Queens College Speech-Language-Hearing Center is in a one-story building in an accessible and conveniently located part of the Queens College campus. The Center houses the graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology, the Speech-Language-Hearing Center, and offices for most of the program’s faculty. The Center also serves as a laboratory for undergraduate students in communication sciences and disorders and faculty doing applied clinical research.
The Speech-Language-Hearing Center serves a varied population of children and adults with communication disorders. Services are available Monday – Friday until 7 pm All clients are assigned to ASHA and NYS clinically certified faculty who provide direct assessment and treatment services along with one-to-one clinical mentorship for assigned students. Whom and What Do We Treat?
The center
provides
evaluations and treatment
for toddlers,
preschool
and schoolage children,
young
adults,
and
adults with a variety
of communication
disabilities, including:

Why Should You Call Us?
There are many questions that parents, spouses,
and other family members have about the speech
and language of their children and other loved
ones. You may think there is a problem, and want
to find out for certain if there is one and if anything
can be done about it. There are many reasons
children and adults may need the services of a
speech-language pathologist.
Children who
- Don’t say as many words as other children
- Rarely sit still or listen to stories
- Have speech that is hard to understand
- Can’t do schoolwork
- Have trouble with reading and writing
- Stutter occasionally
- Don’t seem to hear when spoken to
- Have a hoarse voice

Where Are We?
The center is conveniently located in the Gertz
Building on the Queens College campus (6530
Kissena Boulevard, Flushing) just off Exit 24 of
the Long Island Expressway. It is also accessible
by subway and municipal buses.
What Services Do We Provide?
Evaluations and treatment are provided by the
nationally recognized Queens College faculty,all
of whom are clinically certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed to practice speech-language pathology
by the New York State Department of Education.
Treatment sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes
two times a week or more. Parent and family
support is integral to the program. The center
follows an academic calendar.
What Does It Cost?
The center's fees are significantly less than those
charged by private practitioners. We are a provider
for United Health Care and related services for the
New York City Department of Education. We will
be pleased to assist you in completing the necessary
forms for reimbursement from your insurer. The
center also has scholarship funds for persons who
may have financial difficulty. Some of these funds are made available by grants from the New York Community Trust and the Ridenour Endowment Fund.
