New York City Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NYC-LSAMP)

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is an alliance of 16 CUNY colleges and the CUNY Graduate Center. The overall goal of the LSAMP program is to ensure a long-term capacity to produce significantly greater numbers of minority students in STEM careers through lasting changes achieved in participating institutions.

Benefits of Participation

·       Financial support for undergraduate education (up to $5,000 per year)

·       Work with research scientists in laboratories on and off campus

·       Faculty mentoring in your area of study

·       Academic support through tutorials and workshops

·       Opportunities for summer research, attendance and presentations at local, regional and national conferences and in some cases opportunity to publish research results 


·       Admitted to full-time study at Queens College

·       U.S. citizens or permanent residents

·       Be a member of a group under-represented in STEM research, including but not limited to African Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanic, Native Americans or Pacific Islander

·       Major in a science, technology, engineering or math discipline.

·       Have an overall grade of 3.0 or higher.
