Why Study Abroad?

We know you, student reader; life as a student at Queens college has become routine and predictable. We know that you are searching for something more, a challenge, a new experience, big change. This is it. Your family, friends, and life at home are not budging. They will all be there when you return. So why not take your education and interests to a global arena? Yes, traveling abroad can be frustrating, overwhelming, and frightening. But, it is also exciting, rewarding, and life changing. Increase your understanding of other cultures and get a different perspective on your own culture. Get to know local students, host families, and townspeople and immerse yourself in the life of the host country. Enjoy new and different activities, sharpen interpersonal and communication skills through interacting with people from backgrounds different than your own. Achieve competence in a foreign language. Enhance your sense of independence and self-confidence. Expand your career choices and clarify your personal goals.Gain an international dimension and a global perspective in your major. Expand your range of course options and develop a global resume. Experience the increasing interdependence of the U.S. and other countries. Explore the role you can play in the global community.

The Education Abroad Office is a resource center of information for various programs available to Queens College students. We encourage students to come to one of our study abroad information sessions to learn more or visit us in King Hall - room 203.
