The Learning Commons
The Learning Commons (formerly the Academic Support Center or the Content Tutoring Center) offers a variety of academic support services for enrolled students through its various centers, programs, and coordinating partners. Through a combination of peer learning support, tutoring, and direction, the Learning Commons is designed to help students navigate the various academic challenges they face throughout their time at the college. The Learning Commons employs committed, carefully selected and trained Queens College undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. Centers and Initiatives:
The Peer Support Center (Kiely 132) - Individual and group peer tutoring in a variety of courses and subjects.
The STEM Support Center (Kiely 127) - Support in a variety of STEM courses, in collaboration with the HSI STEM Mentors Program.
The Writing Center (Kiely 229) - Support in writing, reading, and communication-based assignments. The Writing Center provides targeted support for English 110 and other Writing Intensives across campus.
The Math Center (Kiely 329) - Support in math classes.
The Computer Science Tutoring Center (Science Bldg. A135-G) - Support in computer science courses.
The Group Study Initiative (Kiely 232) - Helps students study for courses.
The Learning Commons Computer Lab and Print Station (Kiely 132) - A computer lab and print station that are open during normal operating hours. To log onto computers and/or print, students must have active CAMS accounts.
