Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and Major Funding Information

Most external funding for research projects, training programs, and other educational programs is provided by the federal government. Indeed, the majority of federal agencies and departments have funding for investigator-initiated programs as well as funds for training and services to the field. All federal grant opportunities must be posted on the federal repository site known as This site serves as a resource for finding funding as well as a portal for submitting grant applications. You do not need to register to use this site for downloading a grant application or grant announcement. Submission of a grant application is handled by our office or the institution that is applying for the grant. If you have questions about how to utilize, please call our office at 718-997-5400.

In addition to, each funding agency has its own website that contains more funding information and resources for preparing a grant application. Most of the federal agencies provide tips for preparing your application, links to currently funded grants, and descriptive guides about what types of research and other program activities they are likely to fund.

We have provided links to some of the larger agencies and departments below.

If you are interested in additional information and cannot find it, please contact the Research Office and we will assist you.
