Queens College Career Mentoring Community

This program introduces students to a wide variety of career-related experiences by matching students with a mentor who is a Queens College alumnus or alumna or affiliate.

Program Overview

This short-term commitment (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) mentorship community connects QC undergraduate and graduate students with experienced alumni mentors who can guide, help, and support students as they solve their current career challenges (i.e., resume reviews, networking tips, interview guidance, and other professional etiquette skills). This can help students decide which career path to pursue, be more competitive job seekers, and develop their career readiness competencies. If you are a student who is undecided about your major or career path, or seeking clarity in your career, the mentorship community may be for you.

Note: Many of the mentor-mentee connections can turn into long-term professional relationships. They can continue after one semester, if both the mentor and mentee choose to do so and communicate with one another.

Prospective Mentees

The Mentees are Queens College undergraduate and graduate students who want to learn from their mentors and develop their interpersonal and professional skills. They are committed and motivated students who recognize that building professional networks and relationships is key to their success in their future occupations. To be considered, applicants must complete all steps of the application process by the deadlines! We strongly encourage eligible students to apply early, as we may not be able to accommodate all students who apply.

Prospective Mentors

Mentors are qualified professionals with relevant work experience who wish to support undergraduate and graduate students’ transition to work culture. Mentors provide learning experiences for students, including networking, interviewing, and business etiquette. They are not expected to obtain internships or jobs for their students, but they motivate and inspire them by providing opportunities to expand their skills and perspective.
