The Internship Program
The Internship Program at Queens College helps to integrate classroom learning with work experience. The office handles different types of internships: credit-bearing, paid, stipend, and unpaid. Credit-bearing internships have to be approved by the appropriate academic department. The Center for Career Engagement and Internships facilitates student placement, follow-ups, and the final evaluation process.
The office:
- Develops and maintains a database of internships in a variety of fields, and defines the requirements and terms for these internships.
- Assists students with preparation for their internship experiences.
- Evaluates and prepares students for work experience through workshops and personal counseling.
- Negotiates and arranges placements based on students’ and employers’ preferences.
- Oversees and evaluates the internship experiences of students and employers.
- Offers a credit-bearing course that teaches students how to transition from the school world to the work world (course description here).
