Yunzhong Shu teaches advanced Chinese language courses, modern Chinese literature in translation and a senior seminar in East Asian Studies.
Research Interests
Yunzhong Shu’s research interests include modern Chinese literature and cultural studies.
Classes
With a master’s degree in comparative literature and PhD in Chinese literature, Yunzhong Shu has taught elementary, intermediate, and classical Chinese, as well as Chinese fiction reading, Chinese drama reading and modern Chinese fiction in translation.
Publications
Yunzhong Shu has published a book titled Buglers on the Home Front: The Wartime Practice of the Qiyue (July) School, a study of a group of dissident writers active in the 1930s and 1940s in the Chinese leftist literary circles. He has also published articles on modern and contemporary Chinese fiction, images of China in Victorian literature, and the Chinese influence on American poets Kenneth Rexroth and Gary Snyder.
