License Pre-Certification Course

The real estate market is growing in New York State, especially within the borough of Queens—which is booming with ownership, rental, and commercial possibilities. Our 78-hour Real Estate Salesperson’s Licensing Pre-Certification Course* is fully approved by New York State and is taught by a state-approved and -licensed real estate instructor. Upon completion of this required, pre-licensing course and passing New York State’s three-hour prequalifying certification examination, you will receive a program certificate from Queens College Professional and Continuing Studies.

Current topics of study include property management, contractual obligations regarding sales and leases, financing of real estate, law of agency, environmental and construction issues in real estate sales, process of valuation and pricing of properties, and the sale of condominiums and cooperative apartments in New York State.

*Last 3 hours of 78-hour course represent the prequalifying examination.

NYS requirements:
• Complete RE100, our 75-hour salesperson-qualifying course in real estate, which is approved by the secretary of New York State.
• Pass a qualifying examination administered by New York’s Department of State.
• Obtain sponsorship by a New York State-licensed real estate broker.

RE110 - Co-op vs. Condo: What You Need To Know
As a real estate professional, whether you are working with a buyer or seller, you will learn all of the steps necessary to bring you to the closing table including board package preparation. Some of the topics we will focus on are due diligence issues, fee, simple and leasehold co-ops, purchase and sale documents, interview preparation, primary residency and subletting issues, typical closing costs/fees, and co-op/condo construction and conversion.

RE500 - Real Estate Broker's License Qualifying Course
This course is approved for the 45 hours of real estate broker pre-licensing education required to apply for a New York State real estate broker's license. The course modules conform to the curriculum mandated by the state to prepare you for the broker licensing exam and for success as you progress to the next phase of your career. Topics include agency relationships and disclosure review, license law review, operation and supervision of the brokerage office, antitrust laws, independent contractor, real estate financing, real estate investments, general business law, land use, construction overview, subdivision, conveyance of real property, title closing, property management, real estate taxes and assessments and local environmental concerns. The school exam is given during the final class. Students must also pass the New York State Department of State "DOS" license exam and meet the experience requirements.
