Preliminary Work
Spring 2025 – Fall 2025

  • Preliminary work: Queens College faculty and Deans reviewed dormant courses – courses that had not been taught in five or more years (n = 3,332) and either removed them from the Bulletin or archived them for revision per our governance process.
  • In addition, a handful of programs with persistent zero enrollment were reviewed by Deans, Chairs, and the Academic Senate and de-registered with the State of New York.

Phase I

Formation & Representation
Late Spring 2025

  • Working Group appointed: Group members were appointed in consultation with Deans and Chairs. Every effort was made to ensure inclusion and representation across academic divisions, faculty rank, and permanent full-time faculty titles 

Phase II

Analysis & Deliberation
Fall 2025 – Spring 2026

  • Working Group underway: Working Groups meet every 2 weeks during the Fall 2025 semester and again in early Spring 2026.
  • Solicitation of additional data and input from Chairs, Deans, and faculty: Winter 2025 and Spring 2026.
    • Two open meetings of the Working Group will be held for department Chairs and program Directors, in December 2025 and February 2026.
    • Members of the Working Group will meet with departments upon request, in March and April 2026.
    • Provost Price will once again conduct all-School meetings with faculty in the Spring of 2026.

Phase III

Completion of Report
May 2026

  • Finalize Working Group report: Drawing on the data analyzed, the principles informing our work, and feedback from departments and faculty during Phase II, the Working Group will finalize its report for submission. 
  • Submission of Working Group report: Report containing observations and recommendations submitted to President. 

Phase IV

Community Review &
Presidential Decision

Fall – December 2026

  • Community input solicited: Fall 2026. Opportunities for community feedback and input will be structured. 
  • Decisions announced: December 2026. President announces any program-related decisions arising from the process and recommendations. 

Phase V

Implementation & Oversight
Spring 2027 onward

  • Implementation Oversight Committee appointed: February 2027. 
  • Implementation underway: Spring 2027. 
  • Ongoing assessment of impact and monitoring of program health.
