Our Mission
Since first opening its gates in 1937 in the middle of the Great Depression, Queens College has been dedicated to offering a first-class education to women and men from all economic and ethnic backgrounds. Today, our students come from over 150 countries and speak over 110 different languages.
In keeping with our original mission, Queens College supports CUNY’s efforts to help DREAMers and undocumented students pursue U.S. citizenship, in addition to higher education.
Want to clarify your status? Apply for citizenship? CUNY’s Citizenship Now program offers free personal consultations with paralegals or lawyers to all New Yorkers. Over the past ten years, this program has helped more than 100,000 New Yorkers get on the path to US citizenship and have provided legal information and referrals to another 120,000.
Services are provided at more than 40 locations throughout the five boroughs and serve the community in many languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Polish, French, Haitian, Creole and Italian.
CUNY’s DREAMERS Hub provides support and resources to the undocumented student population to enhance their college experience and the first step to help DREAMERS achieve their academic goals. The Hub provides links to local and national resources and scholarships available to CUNY students.
Through The Dream.US, scholarships are available for undocumented students entering Queens College as a freshman or transferring from a community college. Qualified students working toward a bachelor’s degree are eligible for scholarships up to $25,000. Learn more at The Dream.US.
