Admission to the Master of Music in Conducting Program

How to Apply to the Aaron Copland School of Music

The Master of Music in Conducting is open to candidates in orchestral, choral, and wind ensemble. Applicants need to complete the Queens College graduate admission process AND to submit a video demonstratingconducting ability and performance on the major instrument. Remember to complete all application steps in order to be considered for the degree program. Applicants for the MM in Conducting require an undergraduate degree with a major in music or equivalent. You may apply during the final year of your undergraduate program, however full admission to the master’s degree program requires that the undergraduate degree has been awarded.

Successful candidates will show a command of rehearsal skills, a readable and easily accessible physical conducting technique, insightful musical interpretation, and the potential for growth. Previous conducingexperience is required, along with high level musicianship skills on at least one instrument.
