Biographical Information:

Praised for his “fine dramatic skill” and “engaging baritone” (Broadway World), Andrew Wannigman is a versatile singer-actor. He is adept both vocally and dramatically in a wide range of baritone roles across opera, operetta, and musical theatre. A champion of new works, he is also a frequent concert soloist and recitalist.

 This past Fall, Mr. Wannigman performed a Celebration of Gershwin Classics with New Rochelle Opera, marking the 100th anniversary of George and Ira Gershwin’s collaborations. He also returned to the Queens College Choral Society, under the baton of Dr. James John, to sing as the baritone soloist for Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem and Joseph Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass.

 His recent opera roles include Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni with Off Brand Opera and Silvio in Pagliacci with Regina Opera. This summer, he returned to New Rochelle Opera, singing operatic highlights to commemorate their 40th Season Anniversary.

 Mr. Wannigman’s 2023-24 engagements featured significant role debuts as Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus and Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana with New Rochelle Opera and Regina Opera, respectively. He also created the role of Holofernes in the World Premiere of Yehudit at New York City’s historic Temple Emanu-El.

 Other notable performances include his Carnegie Hall debut as the bass soloist in Marianna von Martines’ Dixit Dominus with the Cecilia Chorus of New York, and the title role of Don Giovanni with Long Island Lyric Opera. He performed as Calm/Hiddenfolk Ensemble in the new opera theatre work Iceland at La MaMa Experimental Theatre and participated in the workshop of Paola Prestini’s new opera Sensorium Ex with Beth Morrison Projects. Mr. Wannigman was also the baritone soloist for Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with the Queens College Choral Society. Further recent performances include Ed Wall in the Southeastern Premiere of Frances Pollock’s Stinney, All is Calm with Opera North, Andrews in the World Premiere of Stonewall by Iain Bell with New York City Opera, and the East Coast Premiere as Stanley in Bound by Huang Ruo with Fresh Squeezed Opera.

 Since 2021, Mr. Wannigman has been a member of the voice faculty at Queens College CUNY. He is also a Vocal Mentor for ArtSmart, a successful non-profit that provides free one-to-one music lessons to underfunded schools and communities. In 2024, Mr. Wannigman began teaching as a Voice Instructor at Hebrew Union College, where he instructs cantorial and rabbinical students.
