Alumni_2025_Rivera
Camille Rivera ’01 recieved our Distinguished Alumna Award for 2025. Her career exemplifies the civic engagement and leadership our department cultivates. As an Afro-Latina born and raised in the Bronx, Camille has become a powerful force in labor organizing and progressive politics. She has served as National Deputy Political Director at SEIU, National Political and Legislative Director at RWDSU, and now leads New Deal Strategies’ General Consulting team.
The range of positions held by our alumni attests to the versatility of a political science degree. Some alumni are executive directors of non-profit organizations, partners in law firms, CEO’s of large corporations, and even elected officials. One of our alumna was a MacArthur Genius Grant winner in 2017. Despite this range, one pursuit that unites most of our alumni is public service: they are determined to give back to their communities and leave the world better than they found it.
