Step 1: Be Aware & Explore Your Options

Research Queens College majors and requirements.
- Compare course sequences with your community college program.
- Work with your advisor and/or transfer center about maximizing transfer credit.
- Be aware of the academic calendar differences (for LaGuardia/Kingsborough/Guttman transfers).
Step 2: Check Your Credits
(12 months before transfer; after your second semester at community college)

Use CUNY Transfer Explorer to see how your courses Transfer. Make sure to login using your CUNYfirst credentials.

Aim to complete an associate’s degree. Keep track using CUNY Degreeworks.

Maintain a strong GPA (2.75 if <30 credits, 2.5 if ≥30 credits).

Keep in mind that most majors have a minimum grade requirement.
Step 3: Get Organized
(6-9 months before transfer)
- Gather all transcripts (college + high school).
- Prepare a resume of academic activities and achievements (for scholarships).
- Portfolio for fine arts degree, if applicable.
- Note application and financial aid deadlines.
