BALA’s “Leadership Essentials Certificate” program can help you achieve this by equipping you with a critical understanding of the importance of LEADERSHIP, and the role leaders play in cultivating positive work environments.

Develop valuable skills needed to effectively communicate and lead across cultures.

Earn the certificate by taking the following:

  • BALA 103W: Critical Thinking in Business
  • BALA 200: Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • BALA 201W: Business Communications
  • BALA 398.3: Special Topics – Leading Across Cultures (Spring 2024 Course Code: 35246 – Prof. Arda Nazerian – Departmental permission required to register) **

PLUS attending Two (2) Leadership Workshops.

** BALA 398.3: Special Topics in Business – Leading Across Culture

Open to all QC students, this course can be taken either as part of the Leadership Essential Certificate, or on its own as an elective.

This course is designed to:

  • Teach students about organizational culture and mindfulness in the workplace, through lectures, readings and analysis of case studies, as well as popular TV shows and movies.
  • Teach students how to recognize and understand biases in an organization, then adapt, communicate, and critically assess the competitive advantage of truly comprehending how others think, treat each other and function.
  • Equip students with the knowledge of different leadership styles, how these styles impact organizational culture, and how to connect all of this with their academic majors and career goals.
  • Help guide students into their own leadership journey, placing a special emphasis on Cultural Intelligence and leading across cultures.
