About
Nakia M. Gray-Nicolas, EdD., is an associate professor of Educational Leadership in the Educational and Community Programs department of the School of Education at Queens College, CUNY. Her scholarly research examines college readiness, access, and the persistence of traditionally marginalized students; distributed leadership and community engagement; and the intersectionality and experiences of Black women in educational leadership and academia. Her research, teaching, and service commitments focus on work that disrupts educational inequities. Dr. Gray-Nicolas is the 2023 winner of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division A Emerging Scholar Award. Her scholarship has been published in book chapters and journal articles in Race Ethnicity and Education, Journal of Cases in Education Leadership, Journal of Education Human Resources, Journal of School Leadership, Education Policy Analysis Archives, and the International Journal of Qualitative Studies. She earned an EdD in Educational Administration from New York University, an MSEd in English Education (7-12) and an MSEd in Special Education (7-12) from Syracuse University, and a BA in English from Cornell University.
