Biographical Information:

Joseph Liccardo maintains an active career as a performer, educator, and music administrator. He has appeared in concert throughout the United States and in China, where he is frequently invited as a guest teacher and lecturer. An alumnus of the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival (2013–2016), he has performed repertoire ranging from the standard canon to new 21st-century works. Since July 2017 he has served each summer as a collaborative pianist at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute in Highland Park, Illinois, and he regularly performs with Tom Gold Dance for its biannual New York productions.

In 2006 Joseph won first prize in the Young Artist Division of the MTNA National Piano Competition. A dedicated teacher since completing his studies at the Eastman School of Music, he serves on the faculty of the Aaron Copland School of Music (Queens College, CUNY) and the Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music. He is the co-founder of Presto Arts, an organization dedicated to creating world-class training programs and to bridging cultural divides through music. Based in China and New York, Presto Arts has organized masterclasses, festivals, and other events, and has supported many students from China in pursuing international study. Since August 2023 Presto has presented “The Art of Voice,” a series of summer and winter masterclasses in Salzburg, Austria, in collaboration with renowned sopranos Barbara Bonney and Lisette Oropesa, among other leading international artists.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music from The Juilliard School. His primary teachers include Donald Pirone, Douglas Humpherys, and Robert McDonald.
