La Tertulia Spanish Club

A stylistic photo of people sitting in a classroom on the right-hand side and the Queens College Library on the left-hand side. The backdrop contains written text.

The purpose of the Spanish Club La Tertulia is to promote interest in the Hispanic culture and to provide an opportunity to speak Spanish in an informal setting and to learn more about the Hispanic world. Throughout its history, the Spanish Club has sponsored numerous activities including formal presentations, informal get-togethers, Hispanic food tasting, and share pictures from Cornell-sponsored trips to Spanish-speaking countries, and attending Spanish plays. Some activities include:

  • To invite Hispanic authors who will speak about their work
  • To hold literary readings (poetry, prose and plays) readings
  • To perform a short play
  • To host a faculty/student mini conference
  • To invite a company for example, El Repertorio Español to perform a play at Queens College
