Master of Music in ​Jazz Studies​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The Master of Music in Jazz Studies prepares students for careers in jazz as performers, arrangers, composers, educators, and leaders.
The program offers advanced courses in jazz harmony, improvisation, composition & arranging, and history. It also provides individual instruction, jazz performance ensembles, and elective courses specifically tailored to the needs of today’s professional musicians.
Students may major in either jazz performance or jazz composition. A wide variety of elective courses are available for students in both tracks to fulfill their degree requirements.

Requirements for Matriculation

These requirements are in addition to the general requirements for matriculation.

1. An undergraduate degree, not necessarily in jazz.

2. Jazz performance applicants must submit pre-screening videos before being invited to audition.

3. Jazz composition applicants must submit scores and recordings of their work.

Requirements for Non-Matriculation

Students are to follow the college’s requirements for non-matriculation​.
