The Internship Program for Employers
The Internship Program at Queens College helps to integrate classroom learning with work experience. The office handles different types of internships: credit-bearing, paid, stipend, and unpaid. Credit-bearing internships have to be approved by the appropriate academic department. The Center for Career Engagement and Internships facilitates student placement, follow-ups, and the final evaluation process.
The office:
Develops and maintains a database of internships in a variety of fields, and defines the requirements and terms for these internships.
Assists students with preparation for their internship experiences.
Evaluates and prepares students for work experience through workshops and personal counseling.
Negotiates and arranges placements based on students' and employers' preferences.
Oversees and evaluates the internship experiences of students and employers.
Offers a credit-bearing course that teaches students how to transition from the school world to the work world (course description
here).
Internships can be credit-bearing, paid, stipend, or unpaid. Internships for credit must be tied to the academic calendar of the college.
Some general timelines for securing credit-bearing internships:
Fall: August 30
Spring: November 30
Summer: April 15
