Mark Rose, Dina Perry, and Carol Hochman, Financial Services Leaders and Philanthropists, to be Honored at May 5 College Gala

FLUSHING, N.Y., April 27, 2015 — The Queens College Gala was begun in 1990 to honor those individuals whose successful careers and dedication to philanthropy and public service serve as models for QC students. Funds raised are used primarily for student scholarships. This year’s gala will present the Alumni Award to Mark E. Rose ’85, chairman and CEO, Avison Young (Canada) Inc.; the President’s Award to Dina N. Perry ’67, senior VP, Capital Research & Management Company; and the Lifetime Achievement Award to Carol J. Hochman ’71, president, RHH Capital & Consulting. Juliet Papa ’78, 1010 WINS Radio reporter, will serve as host and emcee.
Mark E. Rose: Alumni Award
Mark E. Rose is CEO of Avison Young and chairman of the board of directors of Avison Young (Canada) Inc. In his six years with the Toronto firm, Rose has overseen its growth from less than 300 real estate professionals to more than 1,725 professionals in 66 offices across North America and Europe. Deloitte listed Avison Young as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 2011, 2012, and 2013, and named it a Gold Standard winner in 2014. Also in 2014, Commercial Property News named Rose one of its Service Executives of the Year. Rose joined Avison Young after holding executive positions at Grubb & Ellis Company and Jones Lang LaSalle. He earned a BA in Accounting from Queens College, where he held student government positions and played on the hockey team. In addition to serving on the Queens College Foundation’s board of trustees, he coaches developing leaders through the NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter Mentorship Program.
Dina N. Perry ’67: President’s Award
Dina N. Perry is a portfolio counselor for Capital World Investors, a division of Capital Research & Management Company. She manages portfolios in American Balanced Fund, the Income Fund of America (IFA), Fundamental Investors, and Capital International Global Equity Fund. She is also president and a director of Fundamental Investors, and a senior VP of Capital Research & Management Company and IFA. Prior to joining Capital Group Companies in 1991, Perry was a senior portfolio manager for Neuberger and Berman. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Queens College. Perry is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Institute.
Carol J. Hochman ’71: Lifetime Achievement Award
Carol Hochman is the president of RHH Capital & Consulting, Inc. In this role she consults with clients in the retail, apparel, and licensing fields. Projects include crafting a revenue strategy for a fashion and beauty media company, advising a private equity fund on the acquisition of an apparel company, and assisting several entrepreneurs on business strategy and strategic alliances.  Prior to this, Hochman spent ten years as the president and CEO of Danskin, a manufacturer of dance and active wear. Hochman is Chairman of the Board of both the Queens College Foundation and W.O.M.E.N in America, a mentoring program for high-potential young businesswomen. She serves on several advisory boards, including FEED, a socially conscious business that helps feed the world. She is also a Managing Director of Golden Seeds, an angel investing group.
