Multiple Positions Communication and Submission Dates

Dear Faculty Colleagues:

We are writing to underscore the importance of completing and submitting your Multiple Position Form (MPF) in an accurate and timely manner. Compliance with multiple position reporting is not optional; it is required by New York State law and longstanding CUNY policy. Summary information and links to relevant documents are available on the Provost’s website: https://www.qc.cuny.edu/provost/multiple-positions/.

As a full-time New York State employee at Queens College, it is assumed that your full effort is devoted to your Queens College work. Compensated outside activities are permitted, however, these activities are limited in the amount of time that can be devoted to them and subject to prior approval.

All full-time faculty must report their outside activity status prior to every fall and spring semester, whether or not they plan to engage in compensated work outside of the primary assignment at Queens College (note that summer multiple position reporting is governed by a different process). These forms are reviewed and, if applicable, proposed outside activities are approved, denied, or modified prior to the start of the semester.

Any planned outside activities must not be commenced prior to approval. Submission deadlines have been scheduled with this in mind: Completed forms go to your supervisor (typically, your department chair) by April 15 for the subsequent fall semester and October 17 for the subsequent spring semester. Any changes to outside activity status should be indicated by filing a revised MPF.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter.
