11/15/2023 Maspeth Federal Mutual on campus

The CEO of Maspeth Federal Mutual, Thomas Rudzewick, was on campus with his team to conduct a seminar on financial literacy. They explained in detail how to create a budget.

In addition, they talked about internships and job opportunities at Maspeth Federal Mutual.

10/25/2023 Business Breakfast Career Success Speaker Series

The Business Breakfast on October 25 was a Speed Networking Event. Different representatives of clubs such as the Economics & Business Club, The School of Business Club, the IMA QC Student Chapter and others introduced themselves.

10/19/2023 Business Meet & Greet Career Success Speaker Series

Two Queens College alums were part of a panel to discuss trends in real estate, their personal career paths, helpful real estate certifications, and environmental issues in real estate. They also talked about opportunities and career paths in real estate, and the skills required to be successful in that career.

Adam Behlman is President of Starwood Property Trust’s Real Estate Investing & Servicing segment and President of Starwood Mortgage Capital. (On the left on the picture)

Leah Azizian is the founder of Mission, a real estate-tech company focused on helping real estate owners raise capital more efficiently and scale investor-education. (Second from the left on the picture)

10/11/2023 SEC on campus

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was on campus on October 11, 2023, so students can learn more about the organization.

 Cynthia Chin was the guest speaker. She is a Senior Securities Compliance Examiner in the Investment Adviser / Investment Company Examination program. She is also a Queens College alum.

Cynthia also talked about financial planning, the scholar program, internship, and job opportunities at the SEC.

09/20/2023 Cybersecurity Workshop

Oleg Petrovsky is an expert in cybersecurity. He was a senior research analyst in multiple firms, and he is now a consultant.

 Oleg provided an overview of cybersecurity kill chain and how it applies for you, your startup, or your small business. He discussed the practical aspects of identifying an infected computer and basic mitigating techniques of computer malware (what to do once you think you might be affected).

09/19/2023 Business Breakfast Career Success Speaker Series

The speaker was Joan Nix, professor at Queens College. She has been teaching for decades, and she was talking about her career and how anyone can be an innovator in any institution. A few years ago, Professor Nix decided to innovate by creating courses in Economics of Crypto Assets and on Blockchain and Money. She ultimately created a BBA in Fintech.

11/17/2022: Women Network Event at Blackstone LaunchPad

Interesting Event at Blackstone’s office, with a Women networking event:

Join us on November 17th at 4 PM EST for a Blackstone LaunchPad event to learn more about pitching yourself or your company from executives at Blackstone. Speakers will discuss what they look for in investable companies, how to stand out as a founder, and how to market yourself and your ideas most effectively. The event will take place at 345 Park Avenue.

The event will be followed by a networking reception with our Blackstone Women’s Affinity group and other employees.
