Your membership in the US armed forces may qualify you and your dependents for one or more of the Veterans Administration educational benefits.
The service member/veteran educational programs are mandated under Titles 38, 32 and 10 US code. It is important for you to know which chapter you fall under so that you will know what benefits are available to you.

GI Bill® Process for ePermit Enrollments
A student may enroll in courses at multiple schools as long as the courses apply toward their degree. The school responsible for awarding the degree is considered the student’s “Parent” school, while all other institutions are designated as “guest” schools.
- What should I do if I’m a Queens College student taking a class at another CUNY school with an ePermit?
If a Queens College (QC) student is taking an ePermit course at another CUNY institution, they must provide the following documentation to the School Certifying Official (SCO) at Queens College in order to be certified at Queens College:
– Get and provide your ePermit details
– Get a letter of approval from the academic department
- What should I do if I’m attending another CUNY school and want to take a class at Queens College with an ePermit?
If you’re taking courses at Queens College via ePermit toward a degree from another school, Queens College is considered the guest school. Make sure to speak with the VA School Certifying Official (SCO) at your Parent school. They’ll let you know what’s needed. If they require Queens College to certify you as a guest student, The SCO at Parent school must contact the SCO at Queens College directly to ensure the certification process is properly coordinated.
GI Bill® Process for Non-CUNY Permit Enrollments
- What should I do if I’m a Queens College student taking a class at a Non-CUNY school with a Permit?
If you’re a Queens College student taking a course outside of CUNY that counts toward your degree, Queens College is your “parent school” and the other school is the “guest school.”
To use your VA benefits in the other school, Queens College must send a letter to the VA Certifying Official at the guest school. Here’s what you need to do:
– Get a letter of approval from the academic department
– Request a Parent School Letter, please email the Queens College School Certifying Official at carlos.garzonacevedo@qc.cuny.edu
Please be aware: Some schools may require additional documentation. We encourage you to contact the School Certifying Official at the guest school to confirm if any further information is needed to process your VA benefits.
