Befitting the institution’s robust sport programs, Queens College has a full complement of modern and well-maintained indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, suitable for all levels of play, recreational or competitive. Several indoor spaces offer weatherproof staging for a variety of activities—from martial arts to table tennis. All athletic facilities are located a short walk from QC’s multilevel parking lot.

FitzGerald Gym

QC’s FitzGerald Gym provides a variety of spaces for athletic events—from basketball to indoor soccer to badminton—and nonathletic events, like trade shows or conventions. Renters have access to the men’s and women’s locker rooms, which have showers, bathrooms, and personal storage spaces. Six vending machines offer beverages and snacks, and a concession stand and/or catering services can be arranged for larger events.

This 22,800-square-foot gymnasium has a high, arched 30-foot ceiling, wall-to-wall windows on three sides, and room for five full or 10 half-basketball courts. Two electronic scoreboards are on opposite ends of the full-court configuration. Nets and courts for volleyball and badminton are available, and the gym may also be used for indoor track events (requires north and south sides), soccer, martial arts, and batting cages, as well as exercise routines and large-scale nonathletic events. Telescoping wooden bleachers offer seating for 1,500 spectators; total capacity for the room is 1,500.

This 19,000-square-foot gymnasium also has a high, arched 30-foot ceiling, windows spanning three walls, and the space, layout, and hoops for either four full or eight half-basketball courts. Nets and courts for volleyball and badminton are available, and the facility may also be used for indoor track events (requires north and south sides), soccer, martial arts, table tennis, and batting cages, not to mention exercise routines and large-scale nonathletic events. Total capacity for the room is 500.

Auxiliary Gymnasium

The 9,375-square-foot auxiliary gymnasium can accommodate one full-court or two half-court basketball games and countless other athletic activities, as well as select nonathletic events like trade shows or conventions. Telescoping bleachers seat 150; total capacity for the gym is 200.

QC’s Olympic-sized swimming pool, housed in a 6,600-square-foot space, offers six lanes and starting blocks, depth sloping from four to 12 feet, and a one-meter springboard. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample natural light. The bleacher stand, seating 250, straddles the entrance to the men’s and women’s locker rooms. Two electronic scoreboards and one pace clock are available. The pool accommodates up to 100 swimmers, and is a great location for competitive events; swimming, scuba, or life-saving instruction; and children’s pool parties. Kickboards and lane dividers are provided, and QC lifeguards are available for hire.

Dance Room 312 is a 1,650-square-foot, 60-person-capacity studio offering full-length windows, a hardwood floor, an eight-foot mirror, and a dry-erase board. It’s an ideal setting for dance instruction, rehearsal, or small-scale recitals.

Tennis Courts

There are six indoor and six outdoor hard-surface tennis courts on QC’s campus, all accommodating both singles and doubles play. The indoor courts offer indirect lighting for minimal overhead distraction, scoring stands at the net posts, and player seating. Rent several for tournament play or large-scale instruction, or single courts for one-on-one or smaller groups.
