Biography

Dr. Jones is a Board Certified and NYS Licensed Behavior Analyst. Her clinical and research experiences focus on interventions for children with autism and Down syndrome and supports for families. Dr. Jones is Director of several on-campus clinical programs providing services to the community, student practicum and service-learning opportunities, and research investigating interventions for children and their families. SIBS Club is a program for children with autism and their siblings. Children received individualized interventions and supportive activities to foster positive sibling relationships. Horizons is a program for young children with developmental disabilities and their families. Horizons grew out of recognition of the growing number of families with children with developmental disabilities who face numerous barriers in early intervention.

Research Interests

Dr. Jones’s research and clinical career focuses on developing and examining interventions to address core deficits in young children with developmental disabilities, primarily autism and Down syndrome, and support their families. Her research has been supported by funds from the National Institutes of Health, Professional Staff Congress, Organization for Autism Research, Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation, and Autism Speaks and published in peer reviewed journals such as Autism, Behavior Modification, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Research in Developmental Disabilities, and Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities. Recent research focuses on culturally sensitive early intervention practices, tailoring interventions to address the phenotypic needs of young children with Down syndrome, and interventions to support siblings of children with autism. Her research and clinical work with young children with Down syndrome is described in treatment manual, Off to a Good Start: A Behaviorally Based Model for Teaching Children with Down Syndrome.
